Kagami Biraki Promotions!

We are delighted to announce that long-time club member Ted Condon has just been promoted to Shodan in the 2024 Kagami Biraki promotions. Fantastic news and very well-deserved! Below you can see Ted moving his name plate up to the Shodan section of our nafudakake (rank board).

Also big congratulations to good friend of the club (and associate member) Colleen Hogan (East End Aikido) who was promoted to Rokudan (6th Dan) along with our other St. John's aikido friends Michael Clair (Fudoshin Aikido) and Paul Glavine (Aikido Institute of Newfoundland).

Changes in Fees and Classes

Avalon Aikikai is pleased to announce fee and schedule information effective January 1, 2024

Fees:

Introductory rate (new members): $40/month for up to two months

Regular membership: $295/semester or $85/month

Reduced (students/pensioners): $220/semester or $65/month

Affiliate (for members of other aikido clubs): $150/semester

Single class (mat fee): $15

Our winter semester runs from January to April with four classes per week.

Classes:

Sundays 7:00-8:30 PM

Tuesdays 7:45-9:00 PM

Thursdays 5:30-6:30 PM

Fridays 6:00-7:15 PM

Tests in November

We want to congratulate two of our members for tests done in November 2nd:

Theo and Ash tested for 6th kyu.

Both tests exceeded our expectations and we are really happy with their effort and performance. Keep up the good work!
