ABOUT AVALON AIKIKAI

Avalon Aikikai (formerly MUN Aikido Club)  is the representative of the Canadian Aikido Federation in St. John's, Newfoundland. We have been teaching Aikido for 40 years and welcome all who are interested in this modern Japanese martial art to come and train with us.

Our membership is from the north-east Avalon community. We offer classes three days a week primarily for adults and teenagers (15+).

FEES PER MONTH (from Sept 2025)

Regular Full Rate: $60

Regular Reduced Rate: $45

New member rate: $50 for the first two months

 Discount by semester (4 months)

DETAILS

  • Members can choose between either the monthly fees or the per semester fee payment.
     

  • We have three semesters a year: September-December, January-April, and May-August.
     

  • In addition to the monthly/semester fees all participants must register as members of the Canadian Aikido Federation for $50/year. This is due when joining for new members or in November for continuing members.  
     

  • Non-member Aikido practitioners can pay a Mat Fee of $15.00 per class. 
     

  • Fees can be paid by electronic transfer, cash or cheque.
     

  • Fees are due on the first day of the month and will be considered overdue 5 days after the first class.
     

  • The Reduced membership rate is for people who are not working a full-time job. It applies to students of all types (including MUN, Marine Institute, CNA, junior/senior high) as well as pensioners or others with a reduced income.
     

  • Child membership is for children between 8 and 15 years who practice once per week accompanied by a parent registered as regular member. The enrolment of children will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Board.
     

  • Affiliate memberships are for local aikidoka who are primarily members of other dojos but wish to attend our classes for extra practice. Affiliate members do not test with us and are not ranked within the CAF.
     

  • Effective date of the new fee structure: Sept 1, 2025.
